Outdoors: The Next Generation
One of the greatest past times in history is Hunting. Hunting dates back to the earliest times of Mankind, and is promptly becoming one of the fastest growing sports on earth. That’s right, I said sport. Although considered a sport by many, it has always been a way of life to me. Sadly, hunting has become so commercialized, that the true importance and values have been overlooked by many. There are, however, a select few of us who still value the “true” meaning of hunting. A year ago today, I found myself questioning if there was anyone left out there who still hunted for the love of the outdoors, and to provide for their families. Aside from a select few, I was almost certain those people were a “ghost” of the past. That was, however, until my good friend (and true outdoors man) Derek Gray introduced me to Michael Cantrell, and Pure Instinct Hunting. I knew from our very first hunt together, that Pure Instinct Hunting was a whole new (old school, if you will) ball game. These guys were legit, and it only took one hunt together to realize they wanted to bring that tradition back. In that one hunt, my faith in the outdoors had been restored, and I gained a whole new family, and brothers of the great outdoors.
I grew up in a small country town, where Deer Season was an unofficial holiday, as well as a way of life. I was in the woods as soon as i could walk, thanks to my late Grandfather. He taught me not only how to survive, but also how to provide for my family. The greatest lesson he taught me out there in those woods, was to respect the outdoors, as well as the Game I had been so blessed to take. The guys at Pure Instinct gave me that feeling when we all got together. In today’s world, hunting has become so commercialized, that those values are slowly disappearing. “Everyone” is a “Hunter” these days. Now don’t get me wrong, if you make the effort to go out into the field, and harvest an animal, I applaud you. As we all know, so many people these days grab a rifle, drive down a road, and shoot something. That, in my opinion, does not make you a “Hunter”. Those people do not have any respect for the outdoors, nor the animals. At Pure Instinct, hunting is much more than a sport for us. It’s the love of the outdoors, the smell of an uncorrupted breeze, the ground that is undisturbed by man, the blessing and respect for each animal harvested, the peace and tranquility of God’s great creation, and the unbreakable bond of brothers providing for our families.
One of the most important values for us at Pure Instinct, is our future generation. As ironic as it may seem, our future begins with us. It is our responsibility to pass along a tradition, in order to preserve an important way of life. That starts with getting our children involved, and teaching them the art of the outdoors. Teaching them to love and respect mother nature, and all game harvested. Without our guidance, true hunting will become a lost art. I know for Michael, Derek, Scott and myself, our children will be heavily involved in the outdoor world, and they will pass that tradition along when it’s their time to do so. I urge and encourage each and every one of you to get your kids involved. In my opinion, a kid in the woods is a kid off the street. Get them out there and show them what this life is truly about. They truly deserve a sense of peace in such a corrupt world. That peace begins in a tree! Or a blind. As we all know, hunters have to band together. We face a battle every day anywhere from PETA to Anti Gun Organizations world wide. It’s us against the world. Band together with us at Pure Instinct Hunting to preserve a way of life that is so easily overlooked. A family that hunts together, prospers together. Shoot Straight and Be Safe! God Bless and Happy Hunting!!
