Long Range Shooting
The crew from Hill Country Rifles has done it again. HCR had previously set the world record with a 3,800 yard shot and a 4,210-yard shot, so it’s no surprise to see them reach out and shoot a target over 2.5 miles out at 4,549 yards.
RIFLE: Hill Country Rifle’s Extreme Long Range Tactical 375 Cheytac
BARREL: 29” Bartlein 1:8 twist
OPTIC: Nightforce ATACR 5-25X56
RINGS: Spuhr 44.4 MOA and 200 MOA rail
AMMUNITION: Custom load Bertram brass with Warner Tool Flatline 361 grain projectiles
They will attempt to hit the longest shot to date using the Extreme Long Range Tactical rifle in 375 Cheytac. Dave Fuqua, HCR President put his reloading skills to the test and came up with a fantastic load that produced 3049 fps with only 3.6 fps standard deviation. The shot was attempted at FTW Ranch in Barksdale, Texas. As you can see in the video, the target was an 8’X8′ whiteboard with a 45″ red bullseye in the middle. With some misses here and there, they did manage to execute the shot 4 times by hitting the intended target, although not a perfect bullseye, they still managed to record a direct hit on target.
Talk about pushing the limits out of an extreme rifle set up with the latest and greatest in barrels, scopes, and ammo. The Extreme LR Tactical 375 CT did as expected and performed well to make this incredibly long range shot.
They are already working on a new rifle project and new cartridge for extreme long range shooting. The HCR crew plan to hit a target at 5500 yards next spring. It should be an interesting video pushing the limits on long-range shooting for sure.
