Missed Opportunities
I have had some of the most memorable times in my life while hunting and being in the woods. I constantly challenge myself to become a better hunter, but sometimes you just do not get the opportunity on the target animal you’re after. Even if you get a perfect shot opportunity, there is no guarantee you will make the perfect shot. It all comes down to patience, and overcoming the adrenaline rush in the moment of truth. There is nothing more heart-breaking than missing on a golden moment to harvest the animal you are after.
We have all seen the glory in harvesting animals; from TV shows, videos, sharing it online and so on. What you don’t hear most people talk about is the missed opportunities. It happens, you should learn from the mistakes made and utilize them to become a better hunter. I have missed, and also been behind the camera filming such misfortunes a few times in the course of my hunting career. It is a devastating moment, especially for a young hunter just learning. I try to encourage our youth and preach that it does happen to the best of us. That’s why it’s called hunting not harvesting.
It is important to take the positives out of such bad luck, and learn what went wrong in the situation. Then get right back after it, making sure to never make the same mistake again. Here at Pure Instinct Hunting we keep it real. We will share the highs and lows in hopes to encourage hunters to become better outdoors-men. We enjoy teaching and learning all about the great outdoors. If you have ever missed your opportunity, tell us about it in the comments below.
